Office Ceiling Tiles

Office ceiling tiles can be separated into two separate classes: office ceiling tiles designed for open plan offices and tiles designed for modular / cellular offices.

For open plan offices where a lot of people are working in together, for example a call centre where a lot of people would be on the phone at the same time or an open office with a lot of background noise, speech intelligibility is an important factor.  This type of tile has been designed to absorb enough sound to help reduce background noise to a level where it doesn't interfere with the business and help to reduce the 'cocktail effect' that lots of voices have on background noise levels.

For cellular offices good speech intelligibility is also a consideration but they can also have to take into account privacy concerns; people in these offices need to be able to talk, either with other people or on the phone, without the fear of being overheard by the office or area next door.  In instances such as this the tile also has to offer a good level of sound attenuation to keep enough sound inside the office for privacy levels by enough absorption to reduce echo.

Tiles recommended for open plan offices by respective technical manuals are : Rockfon Alaska, Rockfon Koral or Armstrong Ultima.

Tiles recommended for cellular or modular offices by respective technical manuals are : Rockfon Alaska, Rockfon Koral, Rockfon Pacific (Pacific is not recommended for meeting rooms), Armstrong Ultima, Armstrong Dune or Armstrong Fine Fissured (Fine Fissured isn't recommended for meeting rooms).
